School Colloquium——Knot Polynomials and Knot Homologies

Abstract: Knot polynomials are invariants of knots and links in the form of Laurent polynomials. A highly nontrivial generalization of knot polynomials is knot homologies, whose Euler characteristics are the corresponding knot polynomials. The study of knot homologies has been a central topic in low-dimensional topology in the past 20 years. In this talk, I will briefly introduce these invariants and talk about their properties.
